What is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training requires up
to 6 additional years of hospital based surgical and anesthesia
training after graduation from dental school. As Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgeons, we manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth,
teeth and facial regions. We practice the full scope of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant
placement and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery for
function and aesthetics and treatment of snoring problems. This
also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure for
with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.
We can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries and
fractures, and temporomandibular joint disorders.
Our staff is trained in assisting with outpatient
general anesthesia or intravenous (IV) sedation in our state of
the art office settings. Patients are continuously monitored during
and after surgery.
Our surgical staff is experienced and trained to respond
to office emergencies. All staff are certified in basic cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR) and re-certified yearly. Our doctors are certified
for administration of outpatient anesthesia and sedation by Tennessee
Board of Dental Examiners.
