J. David Johnson, DDS
Dr.
Johnson earned a B.S. Degree from Rhodes College in
1978 and graduated with highest honors from the University
of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1982. He completed
his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at
the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville
and became certified by the American Board of Oral
& Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) in 1992. He recertified
in 2002 and has served as an ABOMS board examiner.
Dr. Johnson is also certified by The National Dental
Board of Anesthesiology. He is an Associate Professor
at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of
Medicine. Dr. Johnson has served as Chairman of the
AAOMS (American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgeons) Committee on Public and Professional Communication
and as a member of the AAOMS Faculty Education Development
Awards Committee of the American Association of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). He is President of the Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and President of the Tennessee Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Johnson currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is the recipient of the 2003 AAOMS Presidential Achievement Award, the 2004 Tennessee Dental Association Fellowship Award and was the 2004 Second District Dental Society Dentist of the Year. He is a Fellow of the American
College of Dentists and the International College
of Dentists. David lives in Oak Ridge with his wife
(Caroline) and their two sons, JD and Thomas. David's
children with his deceased wife (Elizabeth), Andy,
Katie and Carolyn live in Chicago, Oak Ridge and New
York, respectively.
